I realize you may have some questions …

What is Rovaness?

A Rovaness is a lady who loves to travel, but it’s also the name of this travel website.

Who are you?

My name is Marie Look, and I’m a writer and an editor. I grew up in the Midwest, but after I graduated from college I moved to the desert (Arizona). My degree is in journalism.

Can I use one of your photos?

For any of the photographs appearing on this site that I personally took: To publish on the web, yes, you may use it, as long as you link back to my website; to publish one of my photographs in print, please send a request via email. High-res images available upon request.

What kind of camera do you use?

My digital SLR is a Canon Rebel XSi, but I also sometimes use my iPhone to snap photos.

Which photo-editing software do you use?

I like to keep things pretty simple, so if I enhance an image at all, it’s with Pixlr-o-matic. For images taken with my iPhone, I use Instagram.

Can we do a link exchange?

I appreciate you asking, but I limit my list of Favorites to sites that really are just that. However, please feel free to introduce me to your website — it might just become one of my favorites!

Where have you traveled?

Sometimes I write about places I’ve visited, and sometimes I write about places I haven’t visited but would definitely like to visit someday. If you’re confused about whether or not I’ve actually been to a place I’ve written about, these lists should help.

Do you speak any other languages besides English?

I studied German for six or seven years throughout high school and college, and I studied German as a foreign language at the Technische Universität Braunschweig in Germany for five months in 2005.

I’m getting ready to take a trip to one of the places you’ve visited, can you give me some recommendations?

There’s a “Search” box on my homepage you can use to see what I’ve already written about the place you’re interested in. Beyond that, I’m afraid time limitations prevent me from giving everyone personal recommendations.

If you have a question that hasn’t already been answered, email me at: contact [at] rovaness [dot] com.
